Organic Kalahari melon seed oil – fruity indulgence for soft skin
Biting into a juicy slice of melon makes our taste buds tingle with holiday vibes AND is also very healthy. But did you know that the little seeds in melons are also packed with goodness? They contain a beneficial beauty oil known as organic Kalahari melon seed oil. This pale yellow oil is characterised by its light texture, a special combination of essential fatty acids and its moisturising properties.
Nourishing beauty oil
Our organic Kalahari melon seed oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the fruit of the same name. This vegan beauty oil is rich in omega-6 fatty acids and vitamin E. It is also a natural emollient that gently soothes irritated and dry skin. We like to put all these strengths to good use in our certified natural cosmetics.
An exotic melon variety
The Kalahari melon is the botanical ancestor of the familiar watermelon3, and at first glance, the two appear very similar. However, cutting open the Kalahari melon reveals a vibrant green flesh. Its bitter flavour is also distinctly different from the fruity sweetness of our summer darling. And yet, this melon has it all! Its flesh contains up to 90% water, making it an important source of hydration for people and animals living in the Kalahari Desert, especially during dry periods. Hence, it is no surprise that the Kalahari melon was cultivated in the Nile Valley as early as 2500 BC. This member of the gourd family is optimally adapted to thrive in arid desert conditions.
Melon seed oil – benefits for your beauty
The oil's popularity in the cosmetics industry stems from its high content of essential fatty acids, which are known for their ability to strengthen the skin barrier. This helps prevent moisture loss, thereby slowing down dehydration. With its light texture, organic Kalahari melon seed oil is easy to apply, absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy residue. Did you know? It is non-comedogenic, which means it does not clog pores. Organic Kalahari melon seed oil is also ideally suited for sensitive skin, as well as being high in vitamin E, which helps protect skin cells from free radicals.
