Popular everywhere in the world
Rice has its origins in the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, where it was cultivated as a monoculture during the 4th millennia B.C. It spread gradually around the world to: China, India, Persia, North Africa and eventually America and Europe. A tufted root plant, rice can grow up to 1.8 metres in height and is still traditionally cultivated on terraced fields. As soon as the rice has reached the so-called “yellow“ stage of ripeness, it is harvested by hand or by machine.
